ALBANIAN – SERBIAN 101: Let’s go out, order some drink and cheers!

ALBANIAN – SERBIAN 101: Let’s go out, order some drink and cheers!

After so many great comments and demands for new lessons of Albanian and Serbian language, we are back with our online school, but this time… we “went” to kafana and restaurant.

Knowing that learning a foreign language is totally worth the effort, we’ve created a small school for learning both, Albanian and Serbian. Being bilingual expands your opportunities in life, keeps your brain fit and broadens your perspective. It even gives you a special insight into your own mother tongue and the culture you take for granted. Every new word is a milestone on your journey to mastering another language.

Before we start our second language learning lessons of Albanian and Serbian, let’s repeat what we have learned from first lessons – How to meet, greet & introduce yourself in another language.

When you go out you need to know to order, at least, some coffee

Can I get one coffee? – Mogu li da dobijem jednu kafu? – A mund të marr një kafe?

You are now already in a restaurant and you want to make a toast to your new Albanian and/or Serbian friends

Cheers! – Živeli! – Gëzuar!

Come on, lets go – Hajde idemo – Hajde po shkojmë

And now, let’s ask for the check, pay it and say thanks

The check, please? – Račun, molim Vas? – Faturë, ju lutem?

Thank you very much – Hvala mnogo – Faleminderit shumë

This is just first part of our small Albanian – Serbian language school. While waiting for the rest, we would like to thank to Milena Beran, student of the Albanian language in Belgrade, who has created all of these lessons, Youth Initiative for Human RightsBelgrade Youth Office and Nest, and to Jasmina Lazović and Vjosa Rexhepi, who helped us to make our dialogue a little bit easier.

New lesson coming soon. Stay tuned…
